The phases of electrical discharge machining
Below are the steps in the process of electrical discharge machiningperformed by Effepi Broaching in Seregno:
- reaching a certain voltage and consequent release of electrons from the cathode;
- collision of electrons with atoms and molecules of the fluid, resulting in the creation of positive and negative ions (chain effect);
- complete ionization of the fluid and transformation into a conductor that allows current to pass;
- fluid in the plasma state that causes the melting and vaporization of some areas (both of the piece and the tool);
- voltage which, following the discharge, drops until it is completely zero (discharged capacitors);
- the capacitors resume energy storage until a voltage is reached that triggers the process again.
